You were kind enough to register your interest in my biog-blog,
www.the-life-of.me ... thank you ... you might care to look at chapter 1,
which I have just posted.
It's nice to see some longtime friends in this list. Nice too to discover I've
made so many new friends - if you feel like telling me how you found my
(un-promoted, yet) blog I'd be interested.
I shall value any comments and advice any of you care to send me.
I wish you health in this new year - and much happiness in spite of the
gruesome forecasts.
Donald.

Welcome to all the new
friends who have registered with www.the-life-of.me since Chapter 1 on January
1, and thank you for such kind comments from the early-birds.
(Email addresses show that those of us in the below-zero Northern hemisphere
have been joined by some sweaty Southerners ... and before I've started to
Google-ise it the site has already had more than 1,400 visits!)
Chapter 2 is there now, on February 1.
(Can I maintain this rhythm? I'll try.)
The textured grey background is reputed to improve readability - does it? Have
you tried the little music-player? Do any of my music samples ring your bell?
Does my experiment using alternate black & blue text as a form of punctuation
work?
Your comments/advice will always be valued.
Best wishes,
Donald MacLean.
ps. I've added an image to each page.

March 1st ... and a new blog (#3) is on www.the-life-of.me - I hope you like
it.
Welcome to this month's many new subscribers. And thankyou to all those who
have said nice things and made helpful suggestions. Alexandra in L.A. said
"More pix please" ... there are more on all 4 pages ... that better, Ma'am?
(Thanks for nudging me.)
As you may have seen on Twitter yesterday, I got my knickers a wee thing
twisted with this new Blog (the 'style' rules of html are much changed since I
learned to code it nearly 20 years ago) and I'm lucky to have had expert
Clan-cousin Ian McLean rescue me umpteen times. [As I write this, the new page
is a bit wide (in IE7, Firefox & Chrome) and the one-click link back to page 1
is squeewiff].
Editing the audio recording of my vintage Bentley was more familiar territory!
Hope you like it.
Am happy to have you on my subscriber list - flattered also to see the counter
already heading for 2,000 when I don't yet appear among the Soviet spies,
Midland comics and American Pies that Google offers. (But "biog-blog" does
it!)
Have a good month.
Donald MacLean.

My apologies to those of you whose browsers found Biog-Blog 3 too wide - I
have completely rewritten it. And, thanks to a potent spell from Ian,
Wizard-of-Oswaldtwistle, the recording of my vintage Bentley should now work
every time. When you have a moment please have (another) look/listen.
When Blog 4 is due Ann and I will (God Willing) be taking a twice-postponed
break in a wee house on the quayside of a Cornish fishing village. It has full
access to the wild Westerlies but none to the internet. Moreover it will be
April 1st and ... well ...
I shall, before then, post (as Blog 4) my short story for which I have most
reprint-requests. It happens, in my view, to fit the sequence perfectly ... I
hope you'll enjoy it.
Best wishes,
Donald MacLean.

Mid-March - and 'the-life-of.me' has a new blog (4) - "The (short) Story of
Tim" - much reprinted since I wrote it 10 years ago. Following the advice of
Herself-in-California I've found a couple of pix for it.
Sister Deirdre has given me some faded family prints ... the subject of a 1930
one is mentioned in "Communication" (blog 2) so I've added it.
As always a warm welcome to new friends. Don't know how you found us but I'm
glad you did.
If anyone wants to check previous emails just click on the wee panel near the
'contents' table or here:
www.clan-maclean.net/sub.htm
Now to pack for Cornwall.
Best wishes,
Donald MacLean.

Hi ... a new month ... so a new
blog ... Nr 5. "Places" ... on
www.the-life-of.me
Welcome to new subscribers (please click on the "archive" box, on the main
page, if you wish to see previous alerts).
Thank you for more, most helpful, emails (and the flattery does the ancient
ego no harm!)
Hope you enjoy "Places".
I wish you a healthy, happy May.
Donald MacLean.

Hello ... it's the 6th month of the year, so there's a new
(6th) blog on www.the-life-of.me -
I hope you may find it of interest.
Welcome, as always, to new subscribers ... it's heartening to see the
'visits' counter climbing but even more to have you on this list among so many
new friends worldwide - from Southern N.Z. to N.W.Canada.
I hope you enjoy "Places 2", and I wish you a healthy, happy June.
Donald MacLean.

There's a
new blog (month 7, so Blog 7) on
www.the-life-of.me . It's called "Shrinkage". I hope you find
it interesting.
The three most-used browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox and
Chrome) display the same things differently - designing website pages that
will look the same on all 3 seems impossible - it's usually a matter, sadly,
of finding the Lowest Common Denominator. This month's blog has been a
pig ... whichever browser you use I think you will find it legible but I hope
you will forgive the sometimes inelegant layout.
If you're in the Northern hemisphere I trust you are sharing
our heatwave - if you're a Southerner ... well, it'll soon be your turn again.
(Very) warm wishes,
Donald.

A new month
... and a new blog (nr 9) on
www.the-life-of.me .
It's
been the most difficult one to write - you'll see why.
I hope it's of interest.
Donald, with my best wishes.

In www.the-life-of.me the new blog (Nr 10) is the inside story of the most dangerous part of my life.
I hope you find it interesting.
Donald, with my best wishes

Thank you for your many kind comments about last month's blog (Nr 10) on www.the-life-of.me
Several of you asked when I'm going to broach the subject of Broadcasting ... well, it's been difficult to know where to start... now I have.
I hope you find it interesting.
Donald, with my best wishes

First of the month again ... and another blog on
www.the-life-of.me ... I hope you find it of
interest.
Many of you nudged me to write more about broadcasting - so I have.
Rather to my surprise I've posted a new blog on the first of each month for the
whole year. It feels like a full set - so that's the end of the series.
But so many of you around the world have made such kind comments that, all being
well, I'll attempt a new series in the new year.
I wish you the happiest of Christmasses.
Donald MacLean.

It's ne'erday ... am I your email "1st Foot"?
I wish you and yours health and happiness in 2010.
My thanks to those (in almost 30 countries) who have been so kind as to send me greetings ... I am much moved by your kind words.
There's a new blog on www.the-life-of.me - I hope you find it interesting.

There's a new blog (#14) on www.the-life-of.me - I hope you'll find it
interesting.
It takes a new direction ... I'll be grateful for any comments you find time
to send me.
Best wishes,

I've brought-forward my
next blog (#15) on www.the-life-of.me
(You'll see why.)
Several of you tell me that sometimes a new page does not appear at first - the remedy is to click the "reload" button until it does (to pull it through the en route caches).
Best wishes,
Donald.

Thank you for so many
kind messages noting that I have ended the regular 1st-of-the-month publishing
of my biog-blogs on www.the-life-of.me
In 18 months we have become a huge, and worldwide, community ... a nice,
good-humoured one.
I've just published a new blog (it has a happy, 'summery' theme) - I hope you find it interesting.
My best wishes,
Donald MacLean
